I'm really excited to be talking to you today about how to create an online course that sells. Now if you've been following me for very long, you know, that I love to talk about online course creation.
I also have a big, get me up on my soapbox problem with those who are trying to tell you and the rest of the world, that you can just throw a course together and make millions in a day or weekend. Successful courses that sell take thought and planning.
Here are some tips to get you started.
How to Create an Online Course to Sell
The key to selling is knowing what your people want. So, we're going to start there.
Tip number one for how to create an course that will sell is to know the problem that you solve. Also, know the solution that your people are looking for. In short, know your people. What keeps them awake at night about this problem that you solve? What are the most common mistakes that people make? Where are they stuck? What have they tried that hasn't worked?
What Problem Does Your Course Solve
The second thing is to keep it simple. Solve that same problem in one course. You are the expert, make clear that when you teach, you know what you're doing. So, you know all of the answers for all of the different scenarios. But, your person just wants the simplest path from A to Z.
They don't have time to spend a week on YouTube looking up every video that has anything to do with their topic. So, they come to you because you are the expert you know the answer. They know that you can lay it out in a simple path first a, then b, then c and here we get to the result.
The truth is, they don't want all this stuff. They don't need 100 videos and 15 downloads. Really, they just need to know how to get the answer in the simplest and most effective way possible.
Online Course Creation for Excellent Experiences
You have to make them feel appreciated and feel supported. Make them feel like you know what you're talking about. A lot of people are looking for that experience as the gauge on whether or not this was a good course.
So, how do you sell a course? You get people through that get results and you get those testimonials about them talking about how amazing the content was, how easy it was to follow how awesome it was to put into practice. Have them get the result that they wanted when they signed up in the first place.
That's how you create an amazing course: know the problem, have a solution, make it simple, and have an amazing student experience.
