flower in my hair. If you've seen our photos or if you follow me on Instagram or Tik Tok or YouTube. You know, that I usually show up with a flower in my hair. I do wear a flower in my hair every single day, and this has not been all of my life. We'll get to that in a second, but I do wear it every single day. So, my coach asked me, she said, why do you wear the flower in your hair?
How do you stand out in a niche?
In Faith Like Flamingos, I talk about how my husband and I were missionaries before we were business owners we were in a ministry where it was repeatedly communicated to us that loud colored clothes or nail polish or hairpieces or jewelry and things like that were counterproductive to the gospel. We were told that it was sort of a selfish pitch for attention or that we were distracting people from the message of the gospel. So I took it to heart and I sort of stuffed that bold, fun, colorful part of my personality down into my long skirts, and I complied because I don't want to ever do anything that would distract people from the gospel.
Years later on a hot afternoon in a different ministry in a desperate hurry I grabbed one of my daughter's headbands just before going live to teach a class online, and several of the students that were there that day commented about the headband. I hadn't thought much of it other than how do I make myself presentable in the next 2 minutes right. Then, I just started wearing it more often. What I found when I began to wear that flower headband more often was that God began to work in my heart, and he began to whisper to me that he delighted in me and that he delighted in the way that I felt when I wore something beautiful in my hair.
How can I stand out from competitors online?
Maybe you still don't believe what I'm talking about though. Maybe you're still questioning if God delights in you, and I want you to think about this. I
want you to think about what God has to say to the hypocrites in Jesus' day. There were people there who wanted to be a certain way on the outside.
God knew what they were like on the inside. He said to them, “Woe to you because you're like painted tombs which on the outside
look beautiful, but are in the inside are full of dead man's bones and uncleanness.”
That's from Matthew Chapter 23 verse 27 that's really strong language for those of us that are pretending to be something on the outside that we're not on the inside. The flamingos are pink all the way through they're not just putting on the pink, the food that they eat makes their feathers pink and their blood pink, and their flesh, pink and their milk. They're pink through and through.
What Makes You Unique?
You are called to stand out in your niche. He has a message for you to give and a plan for your life good works that he wants you to do. You are so incredibly special, and I hope that you'll just take a moment today to thank him for the unique and special way that he created you uniquely. Especially that you get to show up and serve the world with your gifting. And if you're not serving the world with your gifting, I want to invite you to come on over to thecourseformula.com where we're helping people put together their first or their next online course to get that message to the world so that you can have a bigger impact in the kingdom.
