Today's giveaway is sponsored by BetsiWorld.com and I'll let Betsi introduce it to you – Katie
As an entrepreneur, it is critical to invest in your business. One of the best investments you can make in your business and yourself is what I call Continuing Education. As a travel writer and blogger, writing coach, course creator, and speaker, I know first hand the value of investing in my business and myself, and the massive return I have received in my business.
3 Ways to Invest In Myself & My Business
1. Learning to be a Continual Student
There are several ways to invest in yourself and your business. One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways is to learn to be a continual student. The famous composer Michel LeGrand says, “The more I live, the more I learn. The more I learn, the more I realize, the less I know.” I think he’s on to something.
For me, being a continual student means reading books, gaining knowledge, and collecting ideas, methods, and information from others, and implementing them into my business (if it makes sense to do so).
Over the past year, I have incorporated daily business reading into my routine. This daily habit has shown me new marketing techniques, new ways to look at potential pitfalls, and little tweaks I can make that will create big payoffs.
2. Attending Conferences & Retreats Can Re-Ignite You
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” —Henry Ford
I don’t know about you, but I want to stay young! Sometimes as entrepreneurs running our own business, we become lonely and lose our momentum and focus. Attending conferences & retreats is an excellent way to invest in yourself and your business. Networking with others will reignite your passion and give you focus, inspiration, and motivation. You will leave refueled and ready to move your business forward to your next goal.
I make a practice of attending at least one or two conferences, events, or retreats every year. I leave invigorated and refocused and ready to attack my next goal. The networking that happens at conferences is fantastic, and an excellent by-product of attending.
However, when you attend conferences and retreats, it is important to ask three questions:
- WHY do I want to participate in this conference?
- WHAT do I want to gain from this conference?
- HOW will my attending help my business?
If you can answer these questions, and the conference is a fit for you and your business, then it is a good investment.
Attending #Blogwell Florida, September 24 & 25 is an excellent investment for you. It’s a small intimate retreat, and with a 1:15 speaker/attendee ratio, you’ll have time to chat with the experts. This retreat is one of the best places for you to get feedback and help in growing YOUR business. You’ll walk away with actionable steps to work on so that you can level up YOUR business.
3. Joining Professional Organizations Gives You More Learning Opportunities
No matter what your niche is, there is bound to be a professional organization that you can join. As a travel writer and blogger, I belong to a selection of professional organizations, including The Blog Connection.
Many of them have their own conferences, trips, and meetups. Just networking with my peers, destinations, and brands invigorates me! I always have a takeaway from these events to use for growing my own business.
Attending these events will force you out of your comfort zone; you’ll make new friends, learn new techniques to apply in your business, and get your creative juices flowing. And you’ll perfect your elevator speech, so that you are prepared to share with anyone who might ask, “Tell me what you do” precisely what problem you solve and for whom.
